In a message posted on his website X, Utumatwishima said:
“As news continues to reach us, especially regarding the sanctions against us, you young people have different reactions… On the one hand, there are those who have started to feel anxiety mixed with fear, saying that the jobs of those who worked in NGOs will be lost, that prices in the markets will increase… and indeed, losing one’s job is not something that one enjoys… There are also those who have started to say that since everyone is standing up to punish us, why do they all hate us? ‘Aren’t we bad then?’”
He added: “Some say: ‘If the leaders (editor’s note: Congolese) fail, they will see Big Brother (editor’s note: D. Trump) and show him a proposal to give him mining contracts, what are we (Rwanda editor’s note: without minerals) going to propose, us?

Minister Utumatwishima added:
“Truly, Rwandans are invincible. Hunger and poverty caused by those who do not listen to us or ignore the truth will not break us.” Continue to show our truth without compromise… We Rwandans are not bad. “The unity of Rwanda’s enemies for their common interests does not make us criminals.”
Towards the bottom, he writes:
“We will not go to the minerals meeting. But those who carry minerals will be defeated by the heart and love between us Rwandans and the love we have for our President.”
He ends by imitating Donald Trump in the altercations with Zelensky, saying:
“Someone recently told me, ‘Come on, you don’t have the cards.’” They said, ‘If you respect us and sign an agreement, we will show you and you will see that you have the cards.’
So he concluded by saying, ‘We have our cards in Paul Kagame.’ No war should scare us.”
