The United States has suspended $190 million in annual aid to Rwanda through USAID. But it is not because of Congo, because President Donald Trump has cut all USAID funding by 90%, not only to Rwanda but also elsewhere in the world, where the United States was providing nearly $60 billion per year worldwide through USAID alone!

190 million dollars were injected each year in Rwanda (that is almost 200 billion Rwandan francs per year) and were spent in sectors such as:
(1) Fight against AIDS (including antiretroviral drugs)
(2) Supporting hospitals and pharmacies
(3) Agriculture (and fertilizers)
(4) Child and maternal illnesses
(5) Basic education
(6) First aid
(7) Clean water and sanitation
(8) Public infrastructure
(9) Taking care of the elderly and vulnerable
(10) etc.

At least $120 million has been spent on health, medical care and medical services in Rwanda. The most unfortunate are those living with HIV/AIDS who suddenly find themselves without medication, but “the state as a mother” will fill the gap! The Minister of Health has reassured the public that the government knows how to fill this gap.
