UNPRECEDENTED: DIELLA, AN ARTIFICIAL MINISTER
A minister unlike any other: Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama surprised many by appointing an artificial intelligence (AI) to head the Ministry of Public Procurement.Named Diella, which means “sun” in Albanian, this AI is tasked with overseeing all public procurement tenders.
Edi Rama believes this aligns with his ambition to modernize the public administration, fight corruption, and bring the country in line with European standards, with a view to potential European Union accession in 2030.
Dressed in traditional Albanian attire, she provides voice services, issues documents with electronic stamps, and helps reduce bureaucratic delays. [DW]
