A 4-year-old American boy called the police last week to report his mother, who he believed had just committed the unforgivable. 911 received a rather unusual call on Monday, March 3.
A 4-year-old boy living in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, called the American emergency number to report a crime he considered unforgivable. “My mom is mean,” he can be heard saying in a recording obtained by local radio station WTMJ.
“Okay, what’s going on?” the dispatcher on the other end asks. “Come get my mom,” the boy replies. His mother finally grabs the phone and enlightens the dispatcher on the situation. “I ate his ice cream, that’s probably why he’s calling 911,” she explains, confused, her son continuing to voice his displeasure in the background.

On 3/4/25, Officer Gardinier and Officer Ostergaard were dispatched for a 911 hangup. A little boy called 911 saying his mom was being bad and needed to go to jail. When Officers arrived he said his mom ate his ice cream and needed to go to jail for it. He told them he no longer wanted her to go to jail and just wanted some ice cream.Officers responded back today to surprise him with some ice cream after he decided he didn’t want mom in trouble anymore!
Ice Cream Delivered to the Home
To ensure the story was true and didn’t conceal more serious facts, the police decided to visit the family’s home. There, the little boy confirmed his mother’s story, once again demanding that his mother be taken to the police station.
Not without humor, the police explained in a statement posted on Facebook that the child ultimately agreed not to press charges, retracting his request to have his mother imprisoned and claiming he just wanted ice cream. Holding no grudges, the police officers returned to the boy’s home two days later, bringing him the long-awaited ice cream.
If the story ends well this time, calling 911 or 112 in Europe without a valid reason is punishable, ranging from a fine in the case of an abusive or malicious call to criminal prosecution. A child’s involuntary call may be tolerated, but parents can be punished in cases of abuse.
