« Oh, je ne sais pas » dit l’athée. « Et pourquoi il n’y a pas de Dieu, ni de paradis, ni de résurrection des morts ? » en souriant d’un air suffisant. « D’accord » dit-il. « Cela pourrait être des sujets intéressants mais laissez-moi d’abord vous poser une question. Un cheval, une vache et un cerf mangent tous la même chose : de l’herbe. Pourtant, un cerf excrète de petites boulettes, tandis qu’une vache produit une galette plate, mais un cheval produit des touffes. Pourquoi pensez-vous que c’est comme ça? »L’athée, visiblement surpris par l’intelligence du vieux cow-boy, réfléchit et dit : « Hmmm, je n’en ai aucune idée. »
